Our Interests
During our working years our focus was primarilly on raising our children and our work. We had little time for hobbies and other interests. We attended Church with the kids and made an effort to attend most of their school activities. Merrill managed to complete a Master's degree in Chemistry and Sharon obtained a BA degree in Elementary Education. The boys were active in Boy Scouts: all three earing the rank of Eagle Scout. The girls were active in Young Women's activities. We did not do much traveling as a family.
During these working years Merrill and Sharon spent considerable time building houses. The first was built in 1968, We lived in a house long enough to get another one built, then we would sell. We repeated this process 3 times in Powell, once in Evanston and once in Rock Springs and finally in the house we now live in known to our family as "The Cabin." Merrill and the boys did the majority of the work; Sharon did most of the purchasing and chasing of materials.

Upon reflection of our traveling interests it turns out that in fact we have done considerable traveling. Once I began working overseas we made a number of international trips: to Russia, Germany several times, Austria a number of times, Hawii twice, UK, Hungrey, France, Turkey, Greece and Italy. Sharon to Mexico, Costa Rica and Brazil and Merrill to Angola, The Congo, South Africa, Turkey, and Kazakstan. We traveled to numerous places in the USA: Florida, Michagin, Arizona, Texas, Utah, to mention a few.
